RICHMOND, Va. - Two days after dropping their preseason opener at Atlanta, the Redskins are back in The Commonwealth. Washington returns to Richmond for its final three days of training camp.
The team's "Fan Appreciation Day" at the Bon Secours Redskins Training Center gave fans a chance to get autographs from their favorite players and coaches. "These guys come out here in the heat and really support the team, it's awesome to watch," head coach Jay Gruden said.
With one last two-a-day looming, there's only one 1:35pm practice today. During that workout, most of the 'Skins starters will receive more work than they did in Thursday's 23-17 loss to the Falcons. Quarterback Kirk Cousins played just one series.
“I wanted to give him a good series and get his feet under him,” Gruden said. “I wanted him to go through his pre-game warm-up, get a good drive whether it was five or 10 plays I was going to pull him after the first series.”
The Redskins break training camp Monday. They'll host the New York Jets Friday at FedEx Field in their home preseason opener.
