NORFOLK, Va. – The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers will conduct aerial mosquito spraying Wednesday on Craney Island.
Liquid mosquito larvicide will be sprayed between 7 a.m. and 7 p.m. to target mosquito larvae at federal properties on Craney Island.
Crabbe Aviation will use an Air Tractor, a fixed-wing aircraft similar to a dust cropper, to conduct the spraying.
According to the Army Corps of Engineers, the larvicide does not affect bees so beekeepers do not need to take any special precautions.
If conditions don’t allow spraying Wednesday, the inclement weather date is Thursday.
Call the Portsmouth Mosquito Hotline at 757-393-8666 for updates on all aerial mosquito spraying in the area.
