Downtown Hampton light pole banner design contest seeking submissions

HAMPTON, Va. – The Downtown Hampton Development Partnership is asking artists to submit their designs for light pole banners that will create awareness for the Arts and Cultural District in Hampton.

The goal of the banners is to encourage art-based businesses and cultural institutions to move to downtown Hampton and Phoebus.

Artists must be a resident of Coastal Virginia and can submit one original image for consideration.

The work must include the Downtown Hampton and Phoebus logos at the bottom of the banner and the phrase “Arts and Cultural District” in the design. Artist should not include their name or identifying characteristics anywhere on the banner or any profanity or offensive imagery.

Entries can be submitted by email to admin@downtownhampton.com by 5 p.m. on August 26.

Email entries must include:

  • Artist Name
  • Brief Bio
  • Address
  • Phone number
  • Email address
  • Artwork title

Write Arts and Cultural District Banner in the subject line of the message.

Image file must be a high resolution (300 dpi only) JPG or PDF without the artist’s name, and only use three colors throughout.  Banners will be 30”x82.5” in size.

The winning image will be chosen by a blind jury. Winning entries will be revealed on September 17. Each winning artist will receive $250.
