Gaston becomes the third hurricane of the Atlantic season. Hurricane Gaston is located 1225 miles east of the Leeward Islands and is moving northwest at 17 mph. Maximum sustained winds of 75 mph.
The storm is expected to weaken back to a tropical storm later on Thursday.
It’s expected to continue traveling northwest through Friday before making a turn toward the west-northwest on Friday night.
