Driver flees from Naval Station Norfolk gate after being stopped for inspection

Posted

NORFOLK, Va. – A driver fled from a gate after being stopped for a vehicle inspection, according to a Naval Station Norfolk official.

At 4:30 p.m. a civilian and military dependent were stopped by a guard at gate 3A.

The guard thought he smelled marijuana coming from inside the car and asked the occupants to pull to the side for an inspection of the vehicle.

The two pulled to the side and while they were waiting for military working dogs and police, they sped away.

The Navy has handed the situation to local law enforcement and say they are looking for a beige Malibu.

This is a developing situation.
