Chesapeake Police and North Carolina Law Enforcement will be beefing up security checkpoints in preparation for Labor Day weekend.
The checkpoints will be at border areas on Thursday, September 1 from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m.
Police will release the locations of the checkpoints on Thursday.
Labor Day is the last big travel holiday of the summer and police will be checking for passengers not buckled up and for drunk driving.
These infractions make Labor Day one of the deadliest long weekends in the U.S.
Chesapeake Police and North Carolina Law Enforcement will come together at the border to let citizens know that they will be on the roads all over the region throughout the long weekend.
