NORFOLK, Va. – Authorities are investigating a fatal crash that occurred at Ballentine Boulevard and East Princess Anne Road on Thursday morning.
Norfolk Police and paramedics were called to the scene around 6:10 a.m.
According to Norfolk Police, a Jeep Cherokee was traveling eastbound on E. Princess Anne Road and attempted to make a left turn onto northbound Ballentine Boulevard. As the driver of the Jeep turned, they collided with a moped traveling westbound on E. Princess Anne Road.
The moped driver was pronounced dead at the scene. He has been identified as 55-year-old James A. White.
The driver of the Jeep was the only occupant of the vehicle and remained on scene.
Ballentine Boulevard and E. Princess Anne Road have both reopened to traffic.
After investigators are finished processing the evidence, they will turn it over to the Commonwealth to review and determine if any charges will be filed.
