Barricade situation in York County.
YORKTOWN, Va. – The York-Poquoson Sheriff’s Office arrested a man who barricaded himself in the 6300 block of Route 17 at Colonial Trailer Park Monday evening.
The incident began shortly before 5:30 p.m. Monday when deputies attempted to serve a warrant on 19-year-old Brian Theodore Berwind Jr for breaking and entering and misdemeanor destruction of property.
Berwind barricaded himself inside the trailer where he lives.
People in the immediate area were evacuated. Others that live in the trailer park were asked to shelter in place.
Deputies attempted to make contact with Berwind by throwing a phone inside the trailer but when deputies called the phone, Berwind did not answer.
Around 10:30 p.m., authorities entered the trailer and apprehended Berwind without incident.
No one was injured during the barricade, negotiation or arrest.
