Motorcyclist dies after crash with medical transport unit in Newport News

NEWPORT NEWS, Va. – A motorcycle driver was killed in a crash Wednesday night.

According to police, the motorcycle collided with a private medical transport unit at Jefferson Ave., and Industrial Park Drive just before 9:45 p.m.

Police said the medical unit was pulling out of a gas station when the motorcyclist struck it.

Medics pronounced the driver of the motorcycle, 29-year-old Christopher T. McDonald,  dead at the scene.

A crash team investigated and charges are pending.

All lanes in both directions of Jefferson Ave. were closed Wednesday night during the investigation.
