arielVIRGINIA BEACH, Va. – Ariel is a local dog, getting some national attention.

She arrived at the Southeast German Shepherd Rescue, Phoenix Dog Program in April, 2015 when she was six weeks old.

Ariel’s legs were completely paralyzed and after receiving assessment and surgical treatment, she regained partial use of her rear legs, but not enough to walk.

The pup has a wheelchair when she is outside and “scoots” inside.

HandicappedPets.com puts together a worldwide Walkin’ Wheels pet calendar contest which features specially-abled pets in wheelchairs.

Ariel is one of the 13 winners and is among seven other winners from the U.S.

Ariel is being fostered by a family in North Carolina.
