VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. - After 10 years of having impaired hearing and a disfigured ear, a 12-year-old is returning to school with a new pep in his step.
Fernando Merino-Lopez, was born with a condition called microtia and atresia, meaning his outer ear, ear canal and eardrum were underdeveloped or absent.
He recently had a life changing surgery at Children`s Hospital of the King’s Daughters, which fixed his major hearing problems, and gave him a boost in confidence.
