Virginia Beach Police warn citizens of jury duty scam

Posted

VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. – Virginia Beach Police are warning citizens about another phone scam after receiving several reports from citizens.

According to police, scammers are calling citizens pretending to be sheriff’s deputies.

The scammer tells the victims that they missed jury duty and must pay a fine through either a pre-loaded card or in person at the jail parking lot with cash.

Police say citizens will receive a letter from the courts notifying them that they missed jury duty, not a call.
