AVON, N.C. – A boat was spotted on Tuesday near Ramp 38 and the Avon Pier.

The reason this boat is out of the ordinary is because a Cape Hatteras official says it’s from Cuba.

The boat was seen around 2:30 p.m. and when authorities got to it they smelled diesel fuel coming from the structure.

Avon Fire and the Coast Guard found water bottles, a few containers, food, and fuel aboard.

Everything found on the boat was written in Spanish, according to the Cape Hatteras official.

The boat was made of Styrofoam, metal, and blocks of wood.

There was no indication of people on the boat and Jarvis Towing took the boat to their yard.

The structure was later classified as trash and it was disposed of.
