Disney film ‘A Wrinkle in Time’ holding casting call in Richmond

Posted

A casting call for Disney film “A Wrinkle in Time,” starring Oprah Winfrey and Reese Witherspoon, is coming to Richmond next month.

Filmmakers are seeking a 5-9 year-old boy to play a character of mixed race.

The auditions will be held Sunday, October 9 from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. The casting call will be held at WCVE Video Productions located at 23 Sesame Street in Richmond.

The Disney film will be directed by two-time Academy Award nominee Ava DuVernay. “A Wrinkle in Time” is based on the popular children’s book by Madeleine L’Engle. The story follows children as they travel through time to find their missing scientist father.

“We are searching for an intelligent, confident and exuberant actor to play the lead role of Charles Wallace, a young boy of mixed race, in this classic story,” says Virginia based casting director Erica Arvold, CSA. “Being comfortable in front of a camera while holding a natural conversation is important, but the essence of this character is what grabs me, and that’s what we look forward to seeing.”
