NAS NORFOLK, Va. - We are proud to feature the Helicopter Sea Combat Squadron Two as our September 'Squadron of the Month.'

The Fleet Angels operate the Sikorsy MH-60S Knighthawk.

They are the Navy's East Coast Fleet Replacement Squadron that trains pilots and aircrewmen to fly the Knighthawk in preparation for worldwide missions including logistic support, search and rescue, and medical evacuations.

The squadron has over 500 sailors that are constantly learning and training at Naval Station Norfolk.

HSC-2 traces its history back to 1948 when Helicopter Utility Squadron ONE and TWO, both known as 'Fleet Angels' were formed from the newly decommissioned Helicopter Development Squadron THREE (VX-3) at Lakehurst, New Jersey. These were the Navy's first two helicopter squadrons.
