Suffolk Peanut Festival canceled Saturday and Sunday due to weather

Suffolk, Va. -Peanut Fest activities are canceled Saturday and Sunday because of harsh weather and flooding expected to be affecting the area.

The Peanut Festival, was in its 39th year and it celebrates the history of Suffolk's peanuts.

All weekend long, the Suffolk Executive Airport was to be transformed into a fairgrounds for people to party with the peanuts.

It's a family friendly event, with activities for visitors of all ages, like concerts, amusement rides, contests and competitions, a demolition derby, a truck and tractor pull, motorcycle rally, and fireworks.

Friday and Saturday the festival was supposed to open at 10 a.m. and close at 11 p.m.

Tickets were $10 per person, children 6 and under were free.
