Fall-like temperatures but flooding remains… You may want to grab a light jacket this morning. Temperatures will start in the low 50s near the coast and 40s inland this morning. Highs will reach the upper 60s this afternoon. Expect a mix of mostly sunny to partly cloudy skies. It will still be a bit breezy with NE winds at 5 to 15 mph.
Flood warnings remain for most of the Southside, Northeastern North Carolina, and the Eastern Shore through this evening. River Flood Warnings remain for most of our inland rivers. Water is at minor to moderate flooding levels now and slowly falling. “Nuisance” level tidal flooding is expected during high tide late this afternoon and over the next few days.
We will see more clouds mix in with the sunshine on Wednesday with a chance for isolated showers. Highs will warm slightly, into the low 70s, near normal for this time of year. It will still be slightly breezy with NE winds at 5 to 15 mph. Sunshine will mix back in on Thursday with highs in the mid 70s.

Tropical Storm Nicole has strengthened as it lingers south of Bermuda. Nicole is about 350 miles south of Bermuda and moving NNW at 5 mph. This general motion should continue today. A turn toward the north and an increase in forward speed is expected tonight, followed by a northeast turn on Wednesday. Maximum sustained winds are near 65 mph with higher gusts. Additional strengthening is forecast during the next 48 hours, and Nicole is expected to become a hurricane later today or tonight. Nicole will impact Bermuda on Thursday.
