Meet the 93-year-old behind the screams at this Arkansas haunted house

SILOAM SPRINGS, Ark. – Mary Lou Williams spends her October weekends listening to people scream.

Williams, 93, is one of the people partly responsible for those shrieks of terror – she works as an actor at the Warehouse of Fear in Siloam Springs, Arkansas.

"I can't understand people that get so scared and then want to come to a haunted house," she said with a laugh, gripping the plumbers wrench she uses as a prop.

Williams has been spooking people at the warehouse for the past five years.

The building has 24 movie-set quality rooms and the staff starts planning a year in advance to make sure the scares are always a little more heart-stopping each Halloween.

Located near the Illinois River, flooded waters destroyed the haunted house several years ago, but it has since been rebuilt and is better than ever, workers say.

This year, Williams is playing the role of a nursing home patient who was pushed a little too far.

Williams said she loves the unique job, especially because it helps put a little money in her pocket before Christmas time.
