GOUVERNEUR, N.Y. — Construction workers pulled off a clever rescue attempt and saved one man from a fire by using a piece of construction equipment to rescue him from the second floor of a burning home.
On Friday around 10 a.m., a fire blazed in a two story house near the William Street Bridge in Gouverneur, New York.
A construction crew that had been working nearby on the bridge construction project jumped into action and used their excavator to rescue one man from the second story, according to the Gouverneur Fire Department.
Another man jumped from the second floor window, the fire department said. All residents of the house were safely accounted for.
Firefighters arrived on scene and battled a heavy blaze on both floors of the home.
