Newport News Police looking for men who asked for spare change and stole vehicle

NEWPORT NEWS, Va. – Two men approached a vehicle in the 800 block of Roam Ct. on Saturday asking for spare change before stealing a vehicle.

Police say the first black male suspect approached the driver side of the victim’s vehicle asking for spare change. The suspect then revealed a handgun.

As he was doing this a second black male suspect walked up tho the passenger side of the car.

All three occupants of the vehicle were ordered out and placed on the ground while the suspects rummaged through their belongings, throwing everything out of the vehicle besides credit cards.

The suspects then fled the scene in the victim’s car which was a 2011 Ford Focus.

The Focus was last seen driving southbound on Marshall Ave.

None of the victims were injured and there is no further suspect description at this time. The incident remains under investigation.
