CHULA VISTA, Calif. – Love comes in many shapes and sizes.
At one animal shelter, it recently came in the form of a cat and dog – now known as Romeo and Juliet.
Someone found the pair together, cuddling of course, and brought them to the Chula Vista Animal Care Facility.
Romeo is a 7-month-old red tabby kitten and Juliet is a 5-year-old silver and gray Miniature Schnauzer.
The shelter is not set up to have cats and dogs live together so the pair was separated.
Staff soon noticed that Romeo started getting “love sick” without his dear Juliet and was becoming dehydrated.
A visit was arranged for the “star-crossed lovers” and shelter staff said Romeo immediately perked up and Juliet let out a tiny whimper as she nuzzled him.
As they await a furrever family, the shelter arranged for Romeo and Juliet to share a living space.
