PORTSMOUTH, Va. – A Portsmouth Animal Control Officer’s quick thinking helped save the life of a small snake.

On October 24, Animal Control Officer Quintana was called to the 6200 block of Centenary Drive after the snake was caught in a glue trap inside a home.

When Officer Quintana arrived, she realized the snake was still alive.

She quickly took the snake back to her office and used butter to free the snake from the glue trap, saving the animal’s life.

“As you can see from the pictures, the snake was really stuck on the trap and was extremely happy once he was freed by these diligent Animal Control Officers,” Portsmouth Police said in an Instagram post.

The snake was returned to the outdoors on Tuesday.
