SUFFOLK, Va. - Legend has it that people have disappeared in the Great Dismal Swamp during its storied history, but is it haunted?
"It was a forbidden place where you just didn't go because you might not come out," said Chris Lowie, a manager at the swamp.
Legends and myths say late at night you can find ghosts, including stories of lost lovers searching for their soulmates.
It was also once a place where slaves tried to escape prior to the Civl War. "It really shows how bad it could've been," said Lowie. "This was better than living on a plantation."
Come along with News 3 as we explore the myths and lures of the swamp and find out if it's really haunted - watch News 3 at 11 Thursday night.
