Final two lanes of Chesapeake’s Veterans Bridge will open over the weekend

Posted

CHESAPEAKE, Va. – The final two bridge spans on Dominion Boulevard at Cedar Road and the Veterans Bridge are scheduled to open over the weekend.

All four lanes from Grassfield Parkway to I-64/I-464 are expected to be open by Monday. However, the multi-use path on the southbound span of the Veterans Bridge will not open for another 1-2 weeks.

Once all four lanes are open on Monday, a 30-day toll system testing period will begin. No tolls will be collected during this time.

The city will announce a tolling start date toward the end of the 30-day testing period.

Motorists are encouraged to use this time to get their E-ZPass to take advantage of the lowest rates once tolling beings. Passenger vehicles rates will start at $1 with an E-ZPass and $3 without an E-ZPass.
