Beverly Boswell (R), running for North Carolina House of Representatives in District 6
1. Why are you running for office?
I am running for NC House because I believe that it is very important to continue the work that Governor McCrory and his administration has begun. I want to continue to be business friendly and welcome new businesses into North Carolina. New businesses equals jobs. I want to continue funding education and educators. Education has long been overlooked by the democrats and this administration has started the process of bringing education into today’s world. North Carolina was deep in debt and I am proud to say that we have paid off this debt left by Governor Perdue and in record time. We now have a Rainy Day Fund instead. NC has been able to accomplish all of this without raising your taxes. I believe in a smaller government and I hope you do as well.
2. Why should people vote for you?
People should vote for me because I am not interested in “special interest groups”, I am interested in each and every family. I believe that we should take care of our neighbor! Who is your neighbor? Everyone. Long before I decided to run for office, I walked the walk by serving in my community. I have volunteered countless hours in the schools, recreation centers, dental clinics, and other various organizations. I have seen first-hand what the needs of others are and I know how to contribute to the cause. I don’t tour. I volunteer.
3. What’s your favorite thing about the area you want to represent?
My district has some of the best people that I have ever met in my life. They believe in God, Family, and Country. They work hard to take care of their families and their neighbors as well.
4. What is the biggest problem your area is facing, how will you fix it?
The biggest problem facing District 6 would be jobs. Our Farmers and our Fishermen are being regulated right out of a job. It is one of my top priorities to stop more regulations from happening. I then want to take a very close look at the regulations on the book and decide if they are indeed truly necessary. We must Support the people that feed the people.
We need to make sure that each individual has the opportunity to get the best possible education and that it is affordable. We live in a highly competitive world. NC has already made steps to keep tuition affordable. We must now make sure that we have college ready students.
5. Describe Donald Trump in max 3 words?
Bold, Strong, Unafraid
6. Describe Hillary Clinton in max 3 words?
Radical, Dangerous, Extreme
7. What do you do for a living? Why do you do it?
I am a healthcare provider. I am in this field for a simple reason; to help others. I can’t imagine a world without a comforting touch, a kind word when you are afraid, and competent hands to guide you.
8. You’re going to be marooned on a tropical island for a week, you can only bring 1 thing – what is it?
Suntan Lotion? Water? Seriously, I had to think hard about this one and wanted to have a little fun first. I am a reader so I would have to say that I would bring a book. It would be the Good Book. The Bible is our How to Survive Guide.
9. What do you think of Colin Kaepernick?
Mr. Kaepernick has a right to take a knee and be disrespectful to the United States Flag and National Anthem. He was given that right through our Constitution and by the brave men and women who fought and died for our Country. I have the right to NOT support him and that is what I have chosen to do.
10. Would you vote to fund light rail expansion in your area?
I would not vote to support light rail expansion in my district. We are a very rural district. I believe that our hard earned tax dollars should go towards business growth and supporting our infrastructure.
11. Will you respect the outcome of the election?
I will respect the outcome of this election. I believe in our system, however flawed it may be.
12. Favorite TV Show?
I watch very little television because I am a voracious reader. When I do watch, I find that I watch the news and The Big Bang Theory. I have enjoyed the evolution of the characters.
