First Warning Traffic – Midtown Tunnel Closure

ERT MIDTOWN TUNNEL CONSTRUCTION: Friday, Nov. 4th

U.S. 58 East: Full weekend tunnel closure from Friday, Nov. 4 at 8 p.m. through Monday, Nov. 7 at 5 a.m.

The weekend of Nov. 4-6 is the only weekend during  the U.S. 58 East Midtown Tunnel will be fully closed for construction during the month of November due to upcoming holidays and observances.

HAMPTON ROADS WEEKLY LANE CLOSURES REPORT: Friday November 4th through November 11th

  • I-64 Widening Project, Newport News/York County:
    • Segment II: November 7-11, eastbound and westbound single-lane closures between Route 143 (exit 243) and Yorktown Road (exit 247), starting as early as 7 p.m. until 5 a.m. the following morning.

The following interstate ramps will have a single-night closure with a signed detour in place from November 6-10, starting as early as 8 p.m. until 5 a.m. the following morning:

  • I-64 westbound exit ramp to Yorktown Road (exit 247)
  • Entrance ramp from Route 143 Jefferson Avenue south to I-64 west

  • I-64 Hampton Roads Bridge-Tunnel: Single-lane closures eastbound and westbound as follows. One lane will remain open at all times:
  • Westbound November 7-8 from 9 p.m. until as late as 5 a.m. the following morning.
  • Eastbound November 7-10 from 9 p.m. until as late as 5 a.m. the following morning.
  • I-664 Monitor-Merrimac Memorial Bridge-Tunnel: Single-lane closures northbound and southbound as follows. One lane will remain open at all times:
  • Northbound November 6 from 8 p.m. until 5 a.m. the following morning from College Drive to Monitor-Merrimac Memorial Bridge-Tunnel.
  • Southbound November 6 from 8 p.m. until 5 a.m. the following morning.
  • Southbound November 10 from 9 p.m. until 3 a.m. the following morning from Monitor-Merrimac Memorial Bridge-Tunnel to Terminal Avenue.
  • SB-17 James River Bridge: Alternating lane closures northbound and southbound. One lane will remain open at all times:
    • Northbound November 6-10 from 8 p.m. until 5 a.m. the following morning.
    • Southbound November 7-10 from 8 p.m. until 5 a.m. the following morning.
    • Northbound/Southbound November 7-11 from 9 a.m. until 3 p.m.
  • I-64 Westbound, Hampton/York County: Single-lane closures as follows eastbound. One lane will remain open at all times:
  • Eastbound November 6-7 from 9 p.m. until 5 a.m. the following morning at VA-143 (Williamsburg Business) in York County.
  • Eastbound November 6-9 from 9 p.m. until 5 a.m. the following morning at Busch Gardens in York County.
  • Eastbound November 7-10 from 7 p.m. until 5 a.m. the following morning between J Clyde Morris Boulevard and Mercury Boulevard in Hampton.
  • Terminal Boulevard Resurfacing, Norfolk: Full weeknight/weekend closures westbound during the weeknight as follows:
  • Westbound Weekend of November 4-6: Full closure from Friday at 8 p.m. until Monday at 5 a.m.
  • Westbound Weeknights November 7-11 from 8 p.m. until 5 a.m. the following morning.
  • I-64 HOV Reversible Roadway, Norfolk: HOV Reversible Roadway will be closed as follows:
    • November 8-10 from 9 a.m. until 2 p.m.
    • November 9 from 9 p.m. until 4 a.m. the following morning.
  • I-64 Eastbound/Westbound, Norfolk: Alternating lane closures as follows eastbound and westbound. One lane will remain open at all times:
  • Eastbound/Westbound November 7-10 from 7 p.m. until 5 a.m. the following morning between Bay Avenue/Naval Station and Granby Street/Little Creek Road.
  • US-17 Magruder Boulevard, York County: Alternating lane closures northbound and southbound as follows between Darby Road and Hampton Highway. One lane will remain open at all times:
  • Northbound/Southbound November 6-9 from 7 p.m. until 5 a.m. the following morning.
  • Magruder Boulevard on-ramp to I-64 Eastbound, York County: The I-64 eastbound on-ramp from Magruder Boulevard will be closed November 6 from 7 p.m. until 5 a.m. the following morning. A detour will be in place.
  • Military Highway Continuous Flow Intersection, Norfolk: Alternating single-lane closures as follows. One lane will remain open at all times:
  • November 6-12: Alternating single-lane closures northbound and southbound from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. and from 7 p.m. until 5 a.m. the following morning on Military Highway between Valley Drive and Lynn Street.
  • November 6-12: Alternating single-lane closures eastbound and westbound from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. and from 7 p.m. until 5 a.m. the following morning on Princess Anne Road, between Sigmon Street and the intersection of Military Highway.
  • November 6-12: Alternating single-lane closures eastbound and westbound from 9 a.m to 3 p.m. and from 7 p.m. until 5 a.m. the following morning on Northampton Boulevard between the intersection of Military Highway and past USAA Drive.
  • November 6-12: Alternating single-lane closures eastbound and westbound from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. and from 7 p.m. until 5 a.m. the following morning on Robin Hood Road between Ellsmere Avenue and Miller Store Road.
  • I-95 Northbound/Southbound, Greensville County: Single-lane closures northbound and southbound closures as follows:
    • Northbound/Southbound November 8 from 9 a.m. until 3 p.m. at exit 8 (Route 301).
  • U.S. 58, Southampton County: Alternating lane closures eastbound and westbound on U.S. 58 between Shady Brook Trail and Old Bridge Road. One lane will remain open at all times:
    • November 7-10 from 6 a.m. until 9 p.m.
    • November 11 from 6 a.m. until 12 p.m.
  • US-13 (Lankford Highway), Accomack County: Consecutive single-lane closures northbound between Route 179 and Taylor Road. One lane will remain open at all times:
    • September 6-December 5 from 12 p.m. until 5 a.m. the following morning.
  • US-13 (Lankford Highway), Accomack County: Consecutive single-lane closures southbound between Route 179 and Taylor Road. One lane will remain open at all times:
    • September 26-November 29 from 7 p.m. until 5 a.m. the following morning.
  • Elizabeth River Tunnels/Martin Luther King, Jr. Freeway:  Please check Elizabeth River Tunnels website for the latest closure and detour information regarding the Downtown Tunnel, Midtown Tunnel and the MLK Freeway.
  • George Washington Memorial Highway (Route 17), York County: Crews are widening the road between Route 630 (Wolf Trap Road) and Route 706 (Hampton Highway). Daytime single-lane closures, from 9 a.m.to 3 p.m. and weeknight single-lane closures, from 7 p.m. to 5 a.m. Expect traffic shifts and delays.
