VIRGINIA BEACH, VA - Daniel Sahalo is an Ethiopian Jew who when four years old literally crossed the desert on foot to escape civil unrest. He and his family spent weeks traveling and then 9 months at a refugee camp in Sudan before making it to Israel. There he was raised, graduated from college and now works for a company that makes jewelry and trains other immigrants for careers making jewelry. He has been traveling the world telling of his story and stopped by the Coast Live Studio. He is in town to participate at the Jewish Book Festival, November 9-20 (www.simonfamilyjcc.org).
