Disturbing video shows Chicago man beaten as bystanders yell ‘Don’t vote Trump!’

Posted

CHICAGO -- Chicago police are now reviewing shocking video from the city's West Side that shows several people pulling a man out of his car and attacking him.

The victim, identified as 49-year-old David Wilcox, told the Chicago Tribune that Wednesday's violence started with a minor car accident.

Wilcox said one of his attackers was driving a black sedan that scraped the side of his Pontiac Bonneville.

"I stopped and parked. And I asked if they had insurance, and the next thing that I knew they were beating the s--- out of me," Wilcox told the paper Thursday.

The video shows his attackers pummeling him as Wilcox falls to the ground and tries to cover his head. Bystanders can be heard shouting "Beat his ass," "You voted Trump" and "Don't vote Trump." One of the attackers gets into the driver seat of Wilcox's car. Wilcox tries to pull his attacker out of the car, but the man accelerates.

Wilcox said he grabbed onto the door frame and was dragged at high speed until he was forced to let go, leaving him with numerous scrapes on his legs.

Wilcox was taken to the hospital and is in good condition.

Chicago police are trying to identify the attackers. The car has not been recovered, according to WGN.

South Side Pastor Father Michael Pfleger posted a statement regarding the video on his  Facebook page calling it “unacceptable.”

Anyone with information is asked to call police.
