First Warning Traffic – Gilmerton Bridge closed this weekend, road work next week

CHESAPEAKE: 

GILMERTON BRIDGE: Full closure of the Gilmerton Bridge on Saturday, November 12 from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. Take I-64 High Rise Bridge or The Jordan Bridge as alternates.

Northbound N Battlefield Blvd between Knells Ridge Blvd and Lenore Trail, Monday, November 14 at 9 a.m. through Wednesday, November 16

Utility work will close a single lane on northbound N Battlefield Blvd between Knells Ridge Blvd and Lenore Trail starting at 9 a.m. on Monday, November 14 and lasting for no more than 3 days. Motorists should be alert to work crews, equipment in the area and possible delays.

Route 168 Bypass Bridge over the Chesapeake and Albemarle Canal, November 14-18, 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. each day

The biannual bridge inspection will close single lanes on the Route 168 Bypass Bridge over the Chesapeake and Albemarle Canal each day next week from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.  Work will start on the southbound span Monday through Wednesday and will move to the northbound span Wednesday through Friday. Motorists should be alert to work crews, equipment in the area and possible delays.

No full tunnel closures this weekend, single lane closures start again Monday night.

I-264 West: Downtown Tunnel open with a single lane closure extending to Elm Avenue Monday through Thursday, Nov. 14-17 from 8 p.m. each night until 5 a.m. the following morning. Exit ramps along this closure will remain open.

U.S. 58 East: Midtown Tunnel open with a single lane closure Monday through Thursday, Nov. 14-17 from 8 p.m. each night until 5 a.m. the following morning.

I-264 East: Lane closures between Victory Boulevard and Effingham Street Monday through Thursday, Nov. 14-17 from 8 p.m. each night until 5 a.m. the following morning.

Victory Boulevard/I-264 East: Full ramp closure on Monday, Nov. 14 from 8 p.m. until 5 a.m. the following morning.

Bart Street/I-264 West: Full ramp closure Wednesday and Thursday, Nov. 16 and 17 from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. each day.

I-264 East/Court Street: Full ramp closure Wednesday and Thursday, Nov. 16 and 17 from midnight each night until 5 a.m. the following morning.

HAMPTON ROADS WEEKLY LANE CLOSURES REPORT November 11, 2016 through November 18, 2016

  • I-64 Widening Project, Newport News/York County:
    • Segment I: There will be a 20-minute traffic stoppage on I-64 west at the Lee Hall Reservoir Bridges on November 16, starting at 3 a.m. A 20-minute traffic stoppage will also take place on I-64 east at the Lee Hall Reservoir Bridges on November 17, and November 18, starting at 3 a.m.
    • Eastbound and westbound single-lane closures November 14-17 from 8 p.m. until 5 a.m. the following morning on Fort Eustis Boulevard between the I-64 on- and off- ramps.
    • Segment II: There will be east- and westbound single-lane closures between Route 143 (exit 238) and Yorktown Road (exit 247), starting as early as 7 p.m. until 5 a.m. the following morning. Lane closures on Friday evenings will start as early as 9 p.m. until 7 a.m. the following morning.

The following interstate ramps will have a single-night closure with a signed detour in place from November 13 through November 15, starting as early as 7 p.m. until 5 a.m. the following morning. Only one set of ramps will close at a time:

  • Entrance ramp to I-64 west from Route 143 (Jefferson Avenue) north
  • Exit ramp from I-64 west to Route 199 east and entrance ramp from Route 199 west.

There will also be a consecutive northbound right-lane closure on Jefferson Avenue (Route 143) between the I-64 on- and off-ramps, starting at 9 a.m. on November 7 through noon on November 23.

  • I-64 Hampton Roads Bridge-Tunnel: Single-lane closures eastbound and westbound as follows. One lane will remain open at all times:
  • Eastbound November 13 from 9 p.m. until as late as 5 a.m. the following morning.
  • Westbound November 14-17 from 9 p.m. until as late as 5 a.m. the following morning.
  • US-17 James River Bridge: Single-lane closures southbound. One lane will remain open at all times:
    • Southbound November 13-17 from 8 p.m. until 5 a.m. the following morning.
  • I-64 High Rise Bridge: Alternating and single-lane closures as follows eastbound and westbound. One lane will remain open at all times:
  • Eastbound/Westbound November 13 from 9 p.m. until 5 a.m. the following morning
  • Westbound November 14-15 from 7 p.m. until 5 a.m. the following morning.
  • I-64 HOV Reversible Roadway, Norfolk: HOV Reversible Roadway will be closed as follows:
    • November 15 from 9 p.m. until 4 a.m. the following morning.
    • November 18 from 11 a.m. until 3 p.m. at the I-64 HOV exit to I-64 West.
  • I-564 Westbound Tunnel, Norfolk: Single- lane closures as follows. One lane will remain open at all times:
    • November 17 from 9 a.m. until 10 a.m.
    • November 17 from 2:30 p.m. until 5 p.m.
  • I-64 Westbound, Norfolk: Alternating lane closures as follows westbound between the Twin Bridges and the HOV entrance. One lane will remain open at all times:
  • Westbound November 15 from 7 p.m. until 5 a.m.
  • I-64 Eastbound, Chesapeake: Single-lane closures (outside set of lanes) as follows eastbound between the Greenbrier Parkway and Battlefield Boulevard. One lane will remain open at all times:
  • Eastbound November 14-17 from 7 p.m. until 5 a.m.
  • Armistead Avenue I-64 West On-ramp/Off-ramp, Hampton: The Armistead Avenue on-ramp and off-ramps to and from I-64 westbound will close nightly November 13-17 from 8 p.m. until 5 a.m. the following morning. A detour will be in place.
  • I-64 Westbound, York County: Single-lane closures as follows eastbound. One lane will remain open at all times:
  • Eastbound November 13-17 from 9 p.m. until 5 a.m. the following morning at VA-143 (Camp Peary).
  • US-17 Magruder Boulevard, York County: Alternating lane closures northbound and southbound as follows between Darby Road and Hampton Highway. One lane will remain open at all times:
  • Northbound/Southbound November 13-14 from 7 p.m. until 5 a.m. the following morning.
  • US-17 J Clyde Morris Boulevard, Newport News: Dual-lane closures northbound as follows between San Jose Drive and the I-64 East on-ramp. One lane will remain open at all times:
    • Northbound November 13-14 from 7 p.m. until 5 a.m. the following morning.
  • VA-199 Westbound, James City County: Alternating lane closures westbound on VA-199 westbound at VA-132. One lane will remain open at all times:
    • November 16 from 7 p.m. until 5 a.m. the following morning.
  • Military Highway Continuous Flow Intersection, Norfolk: Alternating and single-lane closures as follows. One lane will remain open at all times:
  • November 13-19: Alternating single-lane closures northbound and southbound from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. and from 7 p.m. until 5 a.m. the following morning on Military Highway between Valley Drive and Lynn Street.
  • November 13-19: Alternating single-lane closures eastbound and westbound from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. and from 7 p.m. until 5 a.m. the following morning on Princess Anne Road, between Sigmon Street and the intersection of Military Highway.

    • November 14-17 from 6 a.m. until 9 p.m.
    • November 18 from 6 a.m. until 12 p.m.
  • US-13 (Lankford Highway), Accomack County: Consecutive single-lane closures northbound between Route 179 and Taylor Road. One lane will remain open at all times:
    • September 6-December 5 from 12 p.m. until 5 a.m. the following morning.

 

  • US-13 (Lankford Highway), Accomack County: Consecutive single-lane closures southbound between Route 179 and Taylor Road. One lane will remain open at all times:
    • September 26-November 29 from 7 p.m. until 5 a.m. the following morning.
  • Elizabeth River Tunnels/Martin Luther King, Jr. Freeway:  Please check Elizabeth River Tunnels website for the latest closure and detour information regarding the Downtown Tunnel, Midtown Tunnel and the MLK Freeway.

 

 

  • George Washington Memorial Highway (Route 17), York County: Crews are widening the road between Route 630 (Wolf Trap Road) and Route 706 (Hampton Highway). Daytime single-lane closures, from 9 a.m.to 3 p.m. and weeknight single-lane closures, from 7 p.m. to 5 a.m. Expect traffic shifts and delays.
