CHESAPEAKE, Va. – Investigators say the fire that damaged the Hickory Trading Post early Thursday morning was caused by arson.
Firefighters responded to the fire at the Hickory Trading Post at 1904 South Battlefield Boulevard just after 3 a.m. Units reported smoke and flames coming from the business when they arrived.
Firefighters were able to bring the fire under control in about 20 minutes.
No one was injured.
A half mile section of the road remained closed while firefighters were on scene. Dominion Power was also on scene.
The building had visible damage to the back and on the inside of the store.
The Chesapeake Fire Marshal’s Office is currently working to determine who started the fire.
