NEWPORT NEWS, Va. - Friends and family came together to remember 23-year-old Kashawn Cummings on Friday night.

Cummings was shot and killed on Tuesday afternoon. His killing was one of five in the city just this week.

"It hurts. That's all I can describe it as," said Donye Kirk, a cousin. "It hurts. It's very hurtful. I'm just speechless."

Police Chief Richard Myers responded to the violence in a Facebook post.

Those at the vigil say they've had enough of the violence. "I just wish it would stop. I mean it hurts," said Kirk. "People are losing brothers and sisters. It's sad."
