Two dogs killed, woman injured after being hit by SUV in Virginia Beach

VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. – A woman and her two dogs were hit by a vehicle Friday morning.

According to police, the woman was walking her two small dogs in the crosswalk to cross Buckner Blvd. at Rosemont Road shortly before 7 a.m. when a person driving a Jeep Cherokee was making a left onto Rosemont Road.

Police said the driver had a green light and yielded to traffic but did not see the woman walking her dogs and hit them.

The driver helped the woman carry the dogs to her apartment but both dogs died.

The woman was taken to a hospital for evaluation.

The driver was charged with reckless driving.
