POQUOSON, Va. – A raccoon has tested positive for rabies, the Peninsula Health District announced Friday.
The animal was found in the area of Emmaus Road and Yorktown Road.
If anyone has had exposure, a bite/scratch or contact with saliva by open wound or eyes, to wild animals in this area they are asked to call the Health Department at 757-594-7340.
Exposure also includes between your pet and a rabid animal.
Rabies is fatal but is also preventable.
