VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. - A family's mobile home is sinking into a hole of sewage after a burst pipe and caused a hole to open underneath it.
"I can't use my toilet, I can't use my shower, I can't wash clothes because everything comes out of what is in this hole," said Jamey Hendrix, who owns the home.
The family say the circumstances make them feel captive in their Derby Run Mobile. Since November, every time they used their bathroom or shower, sewage and water would leak under their home, causing the five-foot sink hole to open.
"It's been very frustrating, its been emotional on my family," explained Hendrix. "My wife is expecting so that is another thing. She has to go to the bathroom and she cant."
Hendrix says he went to the owner of the park as soon as he noticed the problem, but they failed to acknowledge the problem until Hendrix found a busted pipe.
"If my kid had flushed a hot wheel down the drain or put a sock down the drain and clogged it that is my responsibility, but you can see the pipe is broken and that isn't my responsibility."
Hendrix says he owns his home, but rents the land from the park. The park confirmed to News 3 on Wednesday that they made a deal with Hendrix saying if he dug out the pipe they would fix it. However, more than a week after the pipe was dug out, and a month after the problem began, nothing has been done.
When News 3 spoke to the owner, they said a plumber was on their way to fix the pipe, but as of Wednesday evening, the pipe has still not been fixed.
