VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. – The new roadway connection on Lynnhaven Parkway between Indian River Road and Centerville Turnpike will open to traffic by 9 a.m. Saturday, December 10, VDOT announced Friday.
The connection has been under construction since March 2014.
Improvements to the new roadway include widening Lynnhaven Parkway from two lanes to four lanes, as well as construction of a bridge over Brigadoon Lake #2, an 8-foot-wide shared-use path, a sidewalk, sound walls and landscaping. New traffic signals were installed at the intersections of Monument Drive, Heald Way, Beaufain Boulevard and Albright Drive.
The project is estimated to be complete in total by mid-January 2017.
Lane closures will continue to take place as needed to finish final construction items; however, at least one lane of traffic will remain open in each direction.
