VIRGINIA BEACH, VA. - A quick grab overnight Saturday.
Frederick Pauley watches his surveillance video of someone stealing his Christmas light projector from his Virginia Beach home.
"Someone has the gull enough to walk on someone else’s property and take what doesn’t belong to them – I mean that disturbs me quite a bit," Pauley said.
Just moments before, you can see another person taking his neighbor’s projector.
The two men then take off into the night.
Pauley says the quick snatch and grab has raised his security concerns.
"It’s not so much that somebody took it. It’s just a materialist thing. The thing that really bothers me the most is it was feet away from where my children sleep," he explained.
According to police, holiday decorations are an easy target.
They say turn off all decorative lights before going to bed or leaving home.
Jessica Chevalier knows this all too well.
"It doesn't seem like something someone would steal," Chevalier said.
Once lit with Christmas colors, the only light illuminating her house now is her porch light.
She says someone stole her project while her family watched TV.
"It kind of crushed my Christmas joy a little bit, at least for a couple of days. I'm sure it'll come back," she said.
Neither Chevalier nor Pauley have plans to replace their holiday decorations.
Pauley has reported the incident to police.
