NEWPORT NEWS, Va. – A Hampton man was sentenced Friday for stealing checks from curbside mailboxes.

31-year-old Timothy Moody was sentenced to 62 months in prison for stealing USAA checks and using the information to make counterfeit Bank of America checks.
Moody then used the counterfeit checks at Lowe’s, Walmart and Home Depot to buy and later return merchandise at different store locations for cash.
