VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. — The first Virginia Beach Carnival celebrates Caribbean culture with activities, music, food and dancing for the whole family.

The festival will also showcase bands and a live concert on the Oceanfront.

Organizers say the festival will become a Virginia Beach destination phenomenon that allows those that come to experience one of the largest Caribbean carnivals on the East Coast.

Visitors to the festival can expect colorful costumes, sounds of steel pans and drums, Caribbean cuisines and drinks.

The carnival organizers say the mixture of Caribbean, Latin, African and other ethnicities in Virginia Beach make it the perfect place to hold the festival, with global representations from Denmark, Japan, Bahamas, Jamaica, Trinidad and Tobago, Barbados, Antigua, Virgin Islands, Africa, London and New York at the carnival.
