FRANKLIN, Va. - A church in Franklin hosted a Community Day to honor the man killed after a home explosion last month, as well as other residents who have been impacted by the incident.
On April 15, a propane explosion left people living at the Berkley Court Apartments without hot water. This issue continues today, with many residents now living in hotels.
Faith Works Fellowship Cathedral hosted Saturday’s event, hoping to address everyone's emotional and spiritual needs during this time.
Shortly after the incident, the Franklin City NAACP started a fundraiser, which will provide support for the victims' immediate and long-term needs.
"As a community, we have the ability to make a difference in the lives of those in need. While no amount of money can erase this tragic event, The Franklin NAACP hopes to lessen the burden of the victims in some way," the group said.
