CHESAPEAKE, Va. - Butts Road Primary School is the location, where on any given weekday morning, you will witness poetry in motion!

At least that is just one of many rave reviews of Chesapeake Police Officer and Crossing Guard Angelique Waterson.

She was named a Crossing Guard of the Year as part of the Virginia Department of Transportation’s Safe Routes to School Program.

Many parents say they would be lost without her, as she makes both the pedestrian and commuters enjoy the ease of her organizational skills. No backups, no log jams of traffic, both on foot and behind the wheel she keeps it moving as if she is conducting an orchestra.

Waterson is known for asking children about their homework, their grades, and their after-school activities.

Officer Waterson is so beloved, one little girl said she didn’t want to leave grade school if she had to leave her beloved crossing guard behind. That seems to be why ‘they call her amazing’.

Chesapeake Police Officer Angelique Waterson is this week's Everyday Hero, and our partners at Southern Bank awarded her a $300 dollar Visa gift card as a token of thanks for all she does to bring positivity to the community.
