NORFOLK, Va. — On Valentine's Day, couples in Norfolk couldn't wait for a big wedding to express their love—18 couples marched down the aisle at circuit court to get their marriage license.
News 3 caught up with some giddy sweethearts as they went to get their marriage license. We spoke with Cindy and David Stead as they had just taken their vows at the commissioner's office.
“We’ve been engaged for 14 months we met on match.com about 3 years ago," the Steads said. "She truly is my soul mate and love of my life, and I’m going to serve her and cherish her for the rest of my days. I’m gonna cry. Yeah, I gotta good one."

We caught up with another couple, Crystal and Carlos Harris, from Montgomery Alabama as they were heading down the aisle to the clerk's office to get their marriage license.
We asked how they decided to get married on Valentine's Day.
"I told her, listen, as long as I get you, just name the time, the date, I’ll be there," said Carlos Harris.
“So now you're not going to forget your anniversary?" asked Beverly Kidd.
"Exactly!" said Crystal Harris. "He’d better not."

The couple is here in Hampton Roads because Mrs. Harris is active duty military serving at Langley Air Force Base. They were introduced by family and dated for a year before taking the leap.
Most couples showing up to circuit court looking to get hitched were wearing their Sunday best. The brides wore nice dresses and some carried flowers. The grooms were in nice slacks and collared shirts.
But a few couples were decked out in wedding gowns and tuxedos with family and friends in tow.
They did have one thing in common, however. They all had smiles on their faces and love in their hearts.
Despite it being the designated day of love, the clerk's office tells us that 25 marriage licenses were issued which they say is about the same number as any other day.
