CHESAPEAKE, Va. — Toys, toys and more toys! The jolly elves at One Hour Heating & Air Conditioning are delivering truckloads of toys that people all over Hampton Roads have donated to our Holiday Helpers program.

“Everyone’s been extra generous this year. For whatever reason, I think it’s amazing. People are very generous in the Hampton Roads community in general, but this year they’ve been throwing down and it’s just wonderful,” said Scott Costa of One Hour Heating and Air Conditioning.

While there’s no official count yet, the folks at ForKids say this year’s haul is even bigger than last year.

“We are incredibly grateful for the way our community has turned up to help support families experiencing homelessness this holiday season,” said Mary Crosby of ForKids.

Hockey fans got in on the action, too! Hundreds of toys were collected at Norfolk Admirals games over the past few weeks, and soon they’ll be sitting under trees all over Hampton Roads.

“Parents who are currently or formerly in our program can come shop for their children so they are able to pick out toys that are meaningful for their children,” Crosby explained.

The effort is helping make Christmas less stressful — and very merry — for families who are struggling this year.

“We’re just proud to be a part of this community. Family-owned and operated since 1979, so much has been given to One Hour and it’s been a mantra to give back,” said Costa.

Making spirits brighter for families in our neighborhoods, ForKids volunteers and Santa’s helpers at One Hour Heating & Air Conditioning are truly Positively Hampton Roads.
