Virginia reports daily increase of 870 coronavirus cases, 35 deaths

The Virginia Department of Health released their daily updated numbers involving coronavirus cases within the state.

According to their website, there are now 16,979 confirmed coronavirus cases, 752 probable cases, 2,519 people hospitalized and 616 coronavirus related deaths. The case numbers are up by 870 since Friday and deaths are up by 35.

A total of 112,450 people in Virginia have now been tested.

The Virginia Hospital & Healthcare Association also updated their numbers. As of Saturday, there are 968 people currently being hospitalized for coronavirus. There are 458 people currently receiving inpatient hospital care whose test results are pending. 375 confirmed positive patients, and those whose test results are pending, are currently hospitalized in the ICU.

202 hospital patients, both confirmed for coronavirus, and those with test results pending, are currently on a ventilator. 589 ventilators are being used in hospitals out of the 2,932 in the state - that's 20% usage.

2,312 patients who have been hospitalized for coronavirus have been discharged.
