SUFFOLK, Va. - The ongoing coronavirus pandemic has put a halt to another local tradition.

The Suffolk Festivals, Inc., Board of Directors announced Tuesday that the 2020 Suffolk Peanut Fest has been canceled out of caution for the public's safety. The 43rd annual event was slated to take place from October 8-11.

The Suffolk Peanut Fest is one of many local events including Something in the Water, Norfolk Harborfest and a host of others to be canceled due to COVID-19.

As a longstanding tradition in Suffolk and Coastal Virginia, the Suffolk Peanut Fest values the health and safety of all attendees and everyone who works to make the four-day event a success every year.

The Executive Committee is currently planning next year's festival for October 7-10, 2021, at the Suffolk Executive Airport.
