WILLIAMSBURG, Va. - There were a lot of full bellies and warm smiles in Williamsburg on Easter Sunday.

Since March 30, the Colonial Williamsburg's culinary team has been preparing more than 2,000 meals each week for delivery. Local organizations including Meals on Wheels, the Williamsburg House of Mercy and the Village Initiative have partnered together to make the meal preparations and donations a reality.

Starting bright and early on Easter morning, volunteers completed the week-long preparation of 900 hot holiday meals. Each meal included half a cooked turkey and sides to feed a family of four. In an assembly-line fashion, volunteers put the meals together at the Williamsburg Lodge.

From there, Meals on Wheels distributed the food to the Williamsburg Hellenic Center to feed a room full of community members -- the perfect recipe for an Easter celebration.

The effort is made possible with support from the Williamsburg Area Restaurant Association, local restaurant owners and culinary professionals who donated both food and their culinary talents to the project.
