CHESAPEAKE, Va. - The Chesapeake Juvenile and Domestic Relations Court will be closed Wednesday, July 1 and Thursday, July 2 after an employee tested positive for coronavirus.

The closure will allow for disinfecting of the building, according to Bonnie Coffey, a clerk with the First Judicial District.

Adult In Custody arraignments and bond hearings will be conducted by the General District Court.

The court will reopen on a limited basis beginning Monday, July 6. All court staff, including judges, will be required to produce a negative test result before returning to work.

Coffey said in a statement that due to the new restrictions, Monday's docket may be limited to arraignments, bond hearings and protective orders.
