EDENTON, N.C. - Chowan County and the Town of Edenton declared a State of Emergency Monday as the area is expected to experience possible effects from Tropical Storm Isaias.

Officials say the State of Emergency does not impose any restrictions including curfew, sale of alcohol and firearms.

No evacuations have been ordered at this time.

Chowan County and the Town of Edenton offices will delay opening on Tuesday until 10 a.m. for non-essential personnel.

A Tropical Storm Warning is now in effect for all areas along and east of I-95. A Storm Surge Warning is in effect for the northern portion of the Albemarle Sound and Chowan River where inundation of 2 to 4 feet above normally dry ground is expected.

North Carolina Gov. Roy Cooper issued a state of emergency Friday in anticipation of the impacts the state will feel from the approaching Isaias.
