VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. - The City of Virginia Beach announced the cancellation of major events through July 5, in response to Governor Northam's executive orders.

The city has canceled the following 2020 events:

  • Fourth of July Fireworks at both the Oceanfront and Mount Trashmore Park locations
  • Mount Trashmore Summer Carnival (originally scheduled for May 29 to June 23)
  • Party at the Pie (scheduled for June 19 at Little Island Park and Fishing Pier)

During Phase II reopenings, which Virginia is expected to enter if COVID-19 numbers continue to decline, crowds are limited to no more than 50 people.

“We are disappointed that these signature events must be canceled this year,” said Mayor Robert M. “Bobby” Dyer. “However, the health and safety of people who live, work and play in Virginia Beach is a top priority. We all play a part in minimizing the spread of COVID-19.”
