CNN is reporting that the acting US Navy Secretary Thomas Modly is resigning.
This comes a day after audio leaked where he said Capt. Brett Crozier betrayed his service after writing a letter raising alarms about coronavirus on the USS Theodore Roosevelt.
Modly said he may have been “too naive or too stupid” to be the commanding officer of the ship.
Hours after the comment was reported, Modly issued an apology for his choice of words.
CNN said Modly submitted his resignation Tuesday.
The Navy and Department of Defense did not respond to a request for comment, CNN said.
