VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. - The Virginia Beach General District Court will be closed Monday, October 19 and Tuesday, October 20 after four individuals who work in the Virginia Beach General District Court tested positive for COVID-19, according to Chief Deputy Clerk Susan H. Heafner.

"Over the course of the last 10 days, four individuals who work within the confines of the Virginia Beach General District Court have tested positive for COVID-19," Heafner said in an email. "The most recent individual was last in the General District Court's area on October 15."

According to officials, two non-Virginia Beach Sheriff's Office court personnel and two Virginia Beach Sheriff's Office deputies assigned to Court Security tested positive.

Heafner added that the Virginia Beach Department of Public Health has been notified, and the city's Facilities Management Department cleaned and fogged the appropriate work and public spaces of the General District Court.

Contact tracing was completed Friday and the city says it plans to complete disinfecting of affected areas over the weekend.

According to Heafner, the Court will reopen on Wednesday, October 21.
